Adult Light Jacket Status

I’m all for a good deal on a coat, this exceeded my expectations. I got the Navy colored, my second picture was just to contrast so someone would have a better idea on the hue. I wash everything before I wear it out, it didn’t shrink when I put it in the dryer on medium heat and the zipper or buttons didn’t melt.

A co-worker asked where I got it and said it was nice. I needed what I call an “adult light jacket”. It’s a jacket where it’s acceptable in work offices, good for rain or sleet, not too bulky or heavy, and makes you look like a newly responsible adult who is at least 30 but not past 45. The perfect jacket for Autumn and when you need to throw on one to take the trash can to the curb. I liked it so much I sent my Bestfriend in Jersey one ‘just because’. The only thing I didn’t like is the hood is short so if my hair is in a low bun or anything like that the hood leaves most of my face out. Oh, I ordered a XL, I’m 5’3 and a little curvy, fit was just right with a regular blouse and slacks on. I typically wear size large, 12-14 for clothing.

Great coat

I purchased a large in the navy blue (I’m 5”9; 135 pounds). The coat fits great; I wore it over a sweatshirt today and didn’t feel “squished” or crammed in with all of my layers.

So far, the jacket does not seem to be picking up lint or hair...

It is more of a sweatshirt type of fabric, but it is warm. The length is great. I wore it out in the 23 Michigan weather this November day and I was warm. The hood is “fur” lined (with that Sherpa type of material) and fits my head perfectly.

Update 1/5/18: Most of us have been hit with the extremely cold weather. This coat keeps me warm. Obviously I’m dressed for the weather (sweatshirt on underneath), but I have not been cold at all wearing it. I do opt of a hat instead of the hood in this weather but I have not had any issues staying warm in the -20 temperatures.

Unlike most of the other coats I tried, this is a very feminine princess cut that highlights the waist. When buttoned, the coat is very flattering. Even if you leave the coat unbuttoned, it still has a feminine shape that follows your waist and then flares out (significantly) at the bottom hem. I wear between a Medium and Large in outerwear, and both sizes were actually fine on me, but if you have a large bust, you may need the larger of 2 sizes.

This is a medium-to-lightweight coat, but since I live in Northern California, this is fine for me. If you live in a very cold climate, it might not be enough, especially with the open neckline. The collar won't stay popped, FYI. I'm 5'6" and the length is roughly lower-mid-thigh, which is ideal because it's such a versatile length. You can easily wear this with casual clothing and workwear. (I tried on many below-the-knee coats, but they were all too dressy for just running to the Post Office, if you know what I mean. I needed a coat that would keep away the chill, cover my butt, and work with any style of clothing and shoes.)

It's polyester, not a wool blend, but the real advantage is that it's potentially possible to throw this in your washing machine in an emergency. I haven't tried this myself with this coat, FYI---but I have successfully washed similar polyester blazers without ruining them. Can't do that with a wool coat! (Tip: use warm water, mild detergent, and hang dry.) It might pill a little, but that's what fabric shavers are for.

Finally, the Cream color is a bit of a chameleon. In broad daylight, it looks like a bright bone color. In dim light, it looks more like ecru or even fawn. It's an attractive color. I also ordered the Hot Pink, which was a gorgeous neon, but ended up returning it since I'd get more use out of a neutral. Overall, this is a good coat for the price, as long as you are fine with the light weight polyester and super-feminine shape.

Cute - But sizing is off . . .

This jacket is cute and considering Wisconsin winters, warm enough for short periods of time outdoors (e.g., run out to the car, from car to store or work) but not for extended periods. If you want to go for a winter walk, this coat will not keep you warm enough.

The real problem with this coat is the fit. Like everything else from Woman Within, sizing is hit or miss. My last version of this coat was quite roomy, this one is a tad snug across the shoulders and bust and I can't even button the bottom button. I realize every plus-sized body is shaped a little different, but it would sure be nice if someone recognized the fact that many larger women have big bellies or posteriors so coats need to have more room in that area.

I absolutely love this cloak! It fits my small frame so well! It's warm but not too warm as it doesn't make me overheat like jackets do-- which is great for Spring & Fall. I don't know if I'll get away with it during Summer or Winter due to how severe the tempatures get. It's soft, sturdy, & has a great flow. I can do everyday things fairly easily with this on. Long story

First I ordered an extra small by mistake because I was going back and forth between 2 coats. When it came in the sleeves and length were good but it was too tight in the shoulders which makes sense since I usually wear a medium. I returned it and ordered a medium. This coat had a different lining, a button missing and the sleeves were way too short. Shorter that the extra small. So I sent it back and ordered a large. The large looks good....has all the buttons is just a little big BUT turns out it is no longer Prime and I had to pay shipping. When I originally looked at this coat all the sizes were Prime! The scarf is thin but a nice neutral color (blue and taupe but the blue is so light it's almost a grey) and was attached at the back of the collar with a T shaped plastic price tag thing (you know, the ones made of fishing line). This is not a coat. It has not kept me warm from the cold. I wear it only in mild weather. As for the product itself, I have to replace all the buttons because every single one of them arrived loose. The way the jacket was packaged, it delivered with wrinkles which won't straighten out without having to put an iron to it or taking it to the cleaners.

Hefty coat! Recommend.

I'm usually a medium or small, 5'3 and like 125-130 lbs. I went with a medium of the padded kind. It actually fit pretty perfect, and is quite hefty! The buttons are a bit hard to get in the holes as others have stated, but like if one pops off just sew it back on, right? Hood is a good size with a flip on it so things shouldn't roll off onto your face. Good length. Wish it looked a little slimmer, but considering it's for winter and has room for a sweater, it's slim enough. Any less and it might not fit my armpits.

I had meant to get one just like the last one I bought which had a hood. At first I was disappointed that this one didn't have a hood but it zips up to where you can keep your neck warm which I've been annoyed with this last year with my other coats (I seem to require a scarf now in the winter).

Honestly, you can't beat the price. I've washed them and they do fine ( I was kind of expecting them to fall apart due to the price). they're actually pretty well made and I've received several compliments on them, but haven't wanted to admit to anyone it was a $30 coat off of Amazon!

This coat is almost perfect for me. I should have gone with the X large but I ordered the XX. But I’m keeping it because I love that it’s lightweight, the body is faux fur lined - sleeves are satiny lined, two very large pockets, drawstrings at the waist and hem, cuffed inside sleeves, great length (I’m 5’0”), good price and no hood but a very high collar that is adjustable. I wanted lightweight so I can layer with sweaters/sweatshirts. But I say stick with your size.

Wore it today and it’s cozy warm! I had a tee and sweatshirt under it. The outer is soft, not quite velvety but still soft. The tag says to hand wash in warm water and to hang dry OR dry clean. Hand washing is not a problem with me.

I have been shopping for a nice white trench coat for years now. I'm very picky. FIT: I actually bought this coat in 2 different sizes: Medium and Large. I am 5'6, 36DD, average build, and typically wear between a Medium and Large in all outerwear. I found that the Large in this coat was too big for me. It didn't look bad when all buttoned up, but when unbuttoned, it looked like a tent. The Medium looked neater and more pulled together, but still had room for a sweater. In the photos where I am wearing grey sweatpants, that's the Large. In the photos where I have black leggings, that's the Medium.

LENGTH: The length was excellent---to me, this is the perfect length for wearing to work. It hit me right in my kneecap.

COLOR: The "brick red" is actually a fairly vivid rusty burnt orange. I'd still consider this a wearable neutral color, and it's very skin-and-face-flattering for some reason, but I could see some people finding this color too loud. I don't consider this to be a shade of red, FYI. It's definitely a deep but bright burnt orange.

BELT SITUATION: There are NO belt loops on this coat, despite the fact that it comes with a self-tie belt. That suits me fine, since the belt makes the pockets look too high (i.e. when you cinch the belt tight, the pockets raise up on your body by an inch or so.) I would just throw the belt away---it looks much better without a belt anyway. If you decide to keep the belt, I'm not sure what you'd do to make sure you didn't lose the belt....

OTHER ALLEGRA K COATS: if it helps anyone, I also ordered the similar Allegra K double breasted coat with polka dot lining---it's much shorter, thinner, and stretchier, so it's not comparable to this coat. And I ordered the Allegra K single breasted coat---that's a nice coat too for the price, but the bottom hem bells out in a noticeable A-line shape. If you prefer straighter, more androgynous lines, the single breasted coat will be too much of a princess cut for you, and I'd recommend this one instead.

might actually need a far smaller size than I'd done the measurements for...but apparently these coats do run pretty large. The US 4-6 comes labeled as a Medium size which at first I wasn't certain about fitting, but it actually fit pretty well. The material of the outer layer of the coat is thick and heavy, so will definitely keep the chill from the bones in windy weather. The inner lining material is nice and slick and helps to slide the coat on and off from other clothing. It does have a nice hood sewn in place that I'm not sure I'll use, but it doesn't appear to hang oddly when not in use. I like the pockets, they're reasonably deep to hold a phone and pair of winter gloves. I picked this up early for an upcoming trip in colder weather, and it's inexpensive and functional for my purposes. Though a word of warning to pet owners-- this coat is a fur magnet. I'm not sure how exactly, but maybe this was a resealed package from a former return due to someone getting a size too big...there was just bits of thread (not even the color of the coat) and fuzz all over the coat after taking it out of the package. It took 5 full lint remover sheets (of the strong pet fur removing variety and I don't have indoor pets at home) to remove all the fuzz. Overall it's a nice coat for a reasonable price, I'm willing to overlook some of the quirks provided it functions as a nice coat and it appears to do that. It was just confusing to figure out what size to get and I'm glad I ran into brianna's review to help with placing my order.

I'm a 36DDD, 5'3, and 165lbs but everything else is a medium on me so naturally I always have to get a bigger size in tops. loose enough that I can layer any sweater underneath when it gets cold but on it's own is lightweight enough that I'll get plenty of use during the warmer winters here in the south. The color is just as pictured and the coat is lined so I don't have to worry about uncomfortable fabric against my skin.

I bought this coat, then I had buyers remorse, then I had cancellation remorse, then the coat arrived anyway! I have thoroughly enjoyed it and worn it 6 times in 5 days. It has 3/4 length sleeves that I didn't notice but I actually like them as they stay out of the way of my watch. It has a drop shoulder seam which I didn't notice and usually avoid but... I love it. Very comfortable and plenty warm too. I love the dark brown stripes and the black buttons to easily blend with a black or brown purse.

could wear heavy clothes underneath if it was roomy. I am 5'5", 130 pounds, 36C. I have broad shoulders and a wide back. Unfortunately the coat is too big for me even with heavy clothes on but it fits my sister quite while. She is the one in the pics attached and is slightly shorter and slightly heavier than I am.

The coat has a fake fur collar that can be removed quickly. It is faux double breasted. It looks like it but you only have to button one row of buttons. There is an inside button as well to keep the coat secure and lying flat. There is a nice silky lining on the inside and large side pockets. It goes down to below the knees and looks a bit dressy. It's soft and comfortable and not too heavy. It isn't warm enough for our northeast winters but is fine for fall and warmer winter days when they occur.

I think this is a well made coat. I didn't see any loose threads or any weird stitching. The buttons are a bit loose though so they will have to be sewn down to be sure one doesn't pop off. There is not a spare button included. In all, this jacket is so much nicer than I expected it to be. A belt may have been a nice addition but it looks fine the way it is. I wish it had fit me but my sister is enjoying wearing it. Definitely order your usual size as this is a roomy coat.

The belt is very nice and long and can be knotted or tied in a bow. It is warm, and looks great with pants or a dress or skirt. This cape/coat is perfect! Normal coats are difficult for me to use because my arm is in a sling. this coat is easy to put on with one hand, keeps me warm, and looks great. i get compliments on it all the time. the buckles are easy to use and a nice detail. there are also two hidden snaps below the buckles to help keep it close, and pockets on either side .

Very nice but fits a little large

A nice cape but for me it was too large. This is probably due to the fact it is a “one size fits all”. I am only 5 feet tall so it was a little longer than I preferred “around mid calf”. It is extremely heavy so it would be great for cold weather. Only negative comment due to quality is that one of the snaps was bent so it wouldn’t snap . If you are looking for a nice looking cape coat you would like this one.
